FDMX is supporting Cambridge’s Strawberry Fair Film Festival 2008, donating prizes of bespoke Steadicam and HDV Camera training to the talented winners.
The Strawberry Fair Film Festival 2008 is an opportunity for amateur and professional filmmakers to showcase their work, and to see a great selection of regional work mixed with national and internationally renowned films.
The Film festival will be held on Friday 6th June 2008 in a Big Top on Midsummer Common, Cambridge, as part of Strawberry Fair, one of Europe's largest annual free festivals, which has been running for over thirty years.
The fair is run by a voluntary committee of local people, (approximately 1000 people volunteer their time to make Strawberry Fair happen,) and the film festival itself is renowned for it’s performances, replete with artists taking on the roles of usherettes, popcorn sellers and even dressing up as indignant moral majority Mary Whitehouse types! Seeing is believing.
By sponsoring prizes FDMX hopes to give emerging talent the chance to develop new skills. FDMX has camera and edit facilities which are available for digital film makers’ use for non-commercial and experimental work, free of charge.
If you’d like to enter a film for the Strawberry Fair Film Festival 2008, the submissions deadline is Friday 16th May 2008. Films can be of any genre but should be less than 20 minutes long.
For submission details email Simon Mullen at cabaret@simonmullen.com
The Film Festival will have a focus on local Cambridgeshire home-grown talent, but also welcomes film or video from outside our region, bringing some of Britain’s great new films to a large, friendly and receptive Cambridge audience.
