Blindfield is a multiscreen film installation at Cambridge’s Ruskin Gallery by photographer/video artist Christine Webster, created using FDMX’s HDV Camera kit and edit suite, all available for free.
“This project probes ideas about perceived ‘madness’, in particular in relation to women and hysteria” said Webster “Blindfield looks at the way in which primitive treatments such as ECT were used. Blindfield refers to the complex and often uneasy ways in which communities control and maintain ‘the others’ who fall outside of the status quo”.
Blindfield was funded by the Arts Council of England, Anglia Ruskin University, with support from FDMX.
The exhibition starts 8th May and continues until 20th May with screenings between 10.00-12.00 and 14.00- 16.00 daily, or by appointment. The piece is 28 minutes long, and plays in Ruskin 110 (off the Ruskin Gallery), Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University, East Road, Cambridge
