The next seminar event is “Emotional Gaming - Creating Emotion in Games” on Wednesday 4th June 2008, 1.45pm till 5pm at the Kaetsu Centre, New Hall, Cambridge.
The Games Industry is always keen to learn a thing or two from other more established media and FDMX is helping supply speakers from Film and TV for this exciting event.
Games are generally criticised for failing to deliver the depth of emotion provided by film and TV. The means by which Directors manipulate audience emotional reaction extends from the plot and the actors and is facilitated by environment, lighting and musical subtlety.
Speakers booked so far on this fascinating topic:
- Larry Sider from the National Film and Television School and co-creator of the influential ‘School of Sound’ will talk about how sound can impart emotion.
- Chris Doran, founder of Geomerics, will present the company’s advanced lighting technologies. Can this give games the emotional impact that film is able to create?
- Tameem Antoniades, Chief Designer of ‘Heavenly Sword’, (a number one selling game on PS3) will speak about the emotional sensitivity of digital entertainment: “There is no reason why we can’t turn games into a truly dramatic medium. We have the technology, we have the artistry. It is going to happen."
- There will be an additional presentation from a well known “reality TV” production company and moreā¦.
Join Games Eden and come to this multidisciplinary event and others!
